VFA cuts 25 percent broken rice to USD380 a tonne

In front of the quiet rice market, the Vietnam Food Association (VFA) has lowered export floor price of 25 percent broken rice to USD380 per tonne, replacing the current price of USD410 per tonne.

Export price of other 5 percent, 10 percent and 15 percent broken rice will be calculated by traders.

As of November 20th, Vietnam shipped more than 5.54 million tonnes of rice, a year-on-year decrease of 10%, reported VFA. Average export price reached USD436 per tonne (FOB price), USD5 per tonne higher than that of the same period last year.

Vietnam set a target to export 6.2 million tonnes of rice in 2014. The US Department of Agriculture projects the country’s rice export will reach 6.5 million tonnes this year, down 3% from the previous year.
