2014 fruit and vegetable exports estimated at USD1.47 billion

With a sharp growth of 34.9%, Vietnam’s fruit and vegetable exports in 2014 could bring home about USD1.47 billion, the highest-ever turnover of the domestic fruit and vegetable sector, reported the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

As of the third quarter of 2014, China, Japan and the Republic of Korea were the three biggest importers of Vietnam’s fruit and vegetables. Two markets of Hong Kong (China) and the United Arad Emirates saw sudden turnover growth during the period.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, positive growth in almost all markets showed Vietnam’s fruit and vegetables had many opportunities to expand exports to countries and territories around the world. Specifically, the US market has opened its door to Vietnam’s dragon fruit, rambutan, longan and litchi.
