Dung Quat oil refinery plant embarks on expansion

Dung Quat oil refinery plant is set to expand its operation to increase production capacity from the current 6.5 million tonnes to 8.5 million tonnes in the next few years, announced the management board of Dung Quat industrial zone (IZ) in central Quang Ngai province on January 23.

The expansion project has a total investment value of US$1.82 billion sourced from the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam).

Covering more than 300 hectare in Binh Tri and Binh Thuan communes in Binh Son district, the expanded plant is scheduled to be completed by 2022.

Vice Chairman of the Quang Ngai provincial People’s Committee Pham Nhu So, who is also head of the Dung Quat IZ management board, revealed that local authorities will pay due attention to dealing with issues related to resettlement, employment and vocational training.

So hoped that Dung Quat plant will make further contribution to Quang Ngai province’s socio-economic development.
