The Vietnamese Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Cao Duc Phat expressed this hope at his meeting with the German Minister of Food and Agriculture Christian Schmidt in Germany on January 19.
At the meeting, Minister Cao Duc Phat noted his appreciation for the results of the Global Forum for Food and Agriculture (January 15-17) and the seventh Agriculture Ministers' Meeting (January 17) in Germany’s capital, Berlin.
The Minister proposed the two ministries co-ordinate with each other to support enterprises in the two countries in deepening their trade and investment relations on agricultural products.
He also suggested that the German side would create favourable conditions for Vietnamese agricultural goods to enter the European market, especially for seafood, rice, tea, coffee, pepper and fruit.
The two sides will also strengthen co-operation in coping with climate change, ecological environment protection and forestry development.
For his part, Minister Schmidt affirmed that the German Government will continue to develop the bilateral co-operation with Vietnam, especially in the fields of agriculture and forestry.
Germany will support Vietnam in training agricultural officials and farmers as well as expanding co-operation in agricultural research, said Minister Schmidt.
