Red tilapia gets high price

The red tilapia farmers in An Giang, Tien Giang, Dong Thap provinces are excited with a high price from 45,000-50,000 VND a kilogram. It is increased by 30 percent compared with the same period last year.

In these provinces, the red tilapia are raised primarily along the Hau river and the Tien river. The red tilapia farmers in Dong Thap province said that, the fish were raised by commercial feed. After 5-6 months of raising, fish could be harvested with capacity from 600-900 gram per a fish.

After deducting expenses, farmers get interest income per 250 million VND. This fish is currently liked and consumed popularly in the Mekong Delta region, even exported to Cambodia.
