Workshop about "Lighting solution for saving eclectricity at dragon fruits farms"
The People’s Committee of Cho Gao district has recently combined with Phillips company to organize Workshop about “Lighting solution for saving eclectricity at dragon fruits farms”. The workshop was attended by nearly 300 farmers from region of the district dragon fruits project.
At the seminar, representative of Department of Agriculture and Rural Development said that the actual testing results of lighting dragon fruits by 23W compact bulbs branded Phillips in Chin Nho farm (Thanh Binh commune) got positive result. After 20 days lighting, each dragon fruits pillar blossomed 70-80 buds, the power consumption of about 455kw per m2 compared with 1.188kw per 1000 m2 if lighted by 60W incandescent bulds.

Although the time of lighting took longer than compact buld from 4-5 days, Chin Nho saved 11 million VND per ha for each season compared with the dragon lighted by incandescent bulbs as before.
Replacing incandescent bulbs with 23W campact alternatives at dragon fruits farms is not only getting efficient power saving as well as decreasing pressure on the power investment source and power supply but slso contributing to reduce significantly costs for dragon fruits farmers.
