Five months see highest year-on-year rise in industrial production
The first five months of 2015 saw a 9.2% year-on-year rise in industrial production, much higher than 4.9% in 2013 and 5.7% in 2014, according to the General Statistic Office (GSO).

The minerals sector saw a 6.3% increase while 9.9%, 10.9% and 6.3% were achieved in the processing and manufacturing sectors, power production and distribution, and water supply, sewage and waste treatment.
Sharp year-on-year rises were also seen in the production of mobile phones (73.4%), automobiles (62.3%) and TV sets (37.4%).
Thai Nguyen, Quang Nam and Hai Phong topped the list of localities with outstanding industrial production increases compared to the same period last year.
The consumption indicator of the processing and manufacturing sector in April rose by 1% month on month and by 9.3% year on year, making the indicator in the first four months of the year increase by 12.8% year on year.
High consumption indicators were seen in producing motor vehicles (42.1%), electronic and optical products and computers (31.4%), metals (24%), prefabricated metal products (except machines and equipment) (16%) and leather (15.5%).
The inventory index of the processing and manufacturing industry rose by 11.5% year on year on May 1, lower than the 12.6% of the previous year.
The GSO’s statistics also showed that the workforce in industrial businesses on May 1 increased by 7.1% year on year, including 0.9% in the State-owned sector, 4.5% in non-State businesses and 1.6% in foreign direct investment businesses.
