Trade deficit reaches US$3.3 billion in eight months
Vietnam recorded a trade deficit of US$3.3 billion in the first eight months of this year, according to the most recent statistics released by the Vietnam Customs Agency.
Accordingly, in the first eight months of the year, total imports-exports of the country reached US$216.2 billion.
Total export turnover reached US$106.3 billion, posting a 9% year-on-year increase, while the total import turnover was US$109.9 billion, an increase of 16.4% year on year.

The domestic sector still recorded an increasing trade deficit month by month, while the foreign sector enjoyed a surplus of US$9.4 billion over eight months.
Major export items with high year-on-year growth during the period included telephones and components (US$19.9 billion, up 31.1%); textiles and garments (US$15 billion, up 10.9%); and electronics, computers and parts (US$9.9 billion, up 51.8%).
