A system to control saltwater intrusion Go Cong area breaks ground

A ground breaking ceremony was held February 23 for the project of a system to control saltwater intrusion Go Cong area.

Many construction sewers of this project includes Nguyen Van Con sewer, Salisette sewer and Son Quy sewer, invested by the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Accodring to design, Nguyen Van Con sewer has a threhold drain of 3.00 meters and automatic stainless steel door, built at the south shore of Long Chanh commune and Long Hoa, Go Cong town. This sewer has the bridge with HL93 loading capacity.

Salisette sewer is built at Salisette canal of Long Thuan commune and ward 5, Go Cong town. Son Quy sewer is built at Son Quy canal of Tan Trung commune and Long Hung commune, Go Cong town.

The upgrading a system control saltwater intrusion improves the environment of Go Cong town, to keep fresh water in the project area in order to ensure water supply for over 34,000 hectares of land under cultivation of the Freshening Go Cong project, to combined resolving inner pollution for the town during the dry season and upgrading and expanding the existing dyke for preventing salinization.

Work on the project is expected to be completed in September of 2017.
