Winter-spring rice crop has a good crop and high price

In winter-spring rice crop 2015 - 2016, farmers in Cai Be district sowed more than 17 thousand hectares. The structures of variety was still the pests resistant varieties, good quality, being consistent with the climate and soil of the local to meet export demand.

Until at the moment, farmers have harvested 3,000 hectares with the yield estimated at 7 tons per one hectare. Traders bought fresh IR50404 rice at field with VND4,500 per kilogram and dry rice with VND 5,800-5,900 per kilogram. According to farmers, with the current price, after deducting the cost, they profited from VND 15-20 million per hecta.

Farmers had a good crop because of sowing in accordance with the suitable seasonal calendar recommended by the agriculture sector, applying “three reducing-three increasing” programme.
