To mid-March, 1,000 hectares rice among total of 29,000 hectares of the 2015-2016 winter-spring rice crop in Freshening Go Cong area has nearly overcame the drought and salinity as well as lack of water being harvested. There is over 2,000 hectares of rice being cut water for ripening stage.

The harvesting and ripening rice area is gathered in Thanh Nhut commune, Binh Nhi commune, Dong Thanh commune of Go Cong Tay district, Gia Thuan commune, Tan Thanh commune, Tang Hoa commune, Tan Tay commune of Go Cong Dong district. The average yield estimated from 6.5 tons to 7 tons per hectare.

Farmers are very excited because the price of rice harvested in the beginning of the season is high. The price is about 6,200 VND to 6,500 VND per kilogram for Nang Hoa, VD20 variety, higher than 500 VND per kilogram in comparision with the same crop of last year.

On the other hand, the surface of rice-field is dry thanks to cutting water soon. It is favorable for harvesting by combine harvester to limit loss. In the coming days, the winter-spring rice area harvested in Freshening Go Cong area will continue to increase.

Besides, the province maintains 687 two level pumping points and three level pumping water to against drought for 8,000 hectares of rice which are flowering and near ripening in this late March to limit redution’s rice yield.
