To attempt ensuring to supply water for life and production

Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee (PPC) Le Van Huong has just said that demand for freshwater to ensure living and production in the province is about 80,000 cubic metre per a day. The total water supply capacity of My Tho water plant, Binh Duc water plant and B.O.O Dong Tam water plant  is 100,000 cubic metre per a day to meet the water needs of people and the production of enterprises.

However, over time, the deep salinity intrusion has affected water supply and water quality. Currently, salinity in the river has decreased therefore the water supply meets the needs of people living and production of enterprises.

In oder to actively respond to the salinity intrusion in the future as well as to ensure water supply for production and daily life, the province has damed up Sau AuXoai Hot canal to prevent saltwater and to reserve additional freshwater for B.O.O Dong Tam water plant as the salinity in this region increases highly, simultaneously steering Tien Giang Supply Company Limited to drill five additional groundwater wells to add water supply source.

Besides, the province is conducting survey to drill groundwater wells around B.O.O Dong Tam water plant to ensure water supply for production and daily life in the dry season.

In addition, in oder to transfer water source of Dong Tam B.O.O to Vam Lang town, Tan Thanh commune in Go Cong Dong district, the province is planning to put pressure station in the eastern region to bring water to this area.

However, in the coming days, when Xuan Hoa sewer takes water better, the province will direct discharge saltwater in sewers along dykes, improving water source in canals, creating water supply source to serve the needs of the people living in these areas.
