Provincial leaders surveys the salt intrusion situation area neighbours on Long An province
On April 6, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Commite (PPC) Le Van Huong and Deputy Chairman of the PPC Pham Anh Tuan has surveyed the salt intrusion areas and positions expected to dam for preventing salt intrusion from Long An province.

According to Tien Giang Sub - department of Irrigation and Flood and Storm Prevention and Control, many areas bordered on Long An province belonging to Tan Phuoc district are suffering affection of salinity from Vam Co Tay river through five opening canals of Long An province. A salt degree at many areas bordered on Long An province now rises above 2 gram per litre.
After surveying, the Chairman of the PPC has directed the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to work with Long An Department of Agriculture and Rural Development about building many opening dams to prevent salt intrusion at Long An province and report to the PPC immediately because of the urgent situation.
The Chairman said that the current salt degree in many canal at region bordered on Long An province is rather high so that it is not guaranteed for pineapples, rice plants to grow normally. Building many dams in this area is not only to prevent salt intrusion but also to free salt water to ensure the safety of the rice and pineapple area (approximately 6,600 hectares of pineapple).
He also directed many branches, levels actively to prepare ready materials to build dams if many solutions of Long An province did not ensure preventing from salt water.
At the same day, the Chairman of the PPC also examined the situation of salt water in some canals in the area of the south Highway 1A, Xang Cut canal.
