Work starts on VND705 billion fruit canning factory in Vinh Long
A groundbreaking ceremony was held in Binh Minh town, Vinh Long province on April 6 for the Song Hau vegetable and fruit canning factory worth over VND705 billion (US$31.7 million), invested in by the Song Hau Farm Joint Stock Company (Sohafarm).

The factory will be built on an area of 4.7 hectares in Dong Thuan commune in line with the requirements of the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the US Department of Agriculture. It will be equipped with four production lines of FDA, UDSA, HACCP and WHO-GMP standards.
Once it is put into operation in June 2017, the factory will have an annual capacity of manufacturing 11.25 million 1,000ml cans of fruits and vegetables, five million 1,000ml plastic jars of fruits and vegetables and 45 million 1,000ml paper boxes of condensed fruit juice.
All the products of the factory will be provided for USFI, Inc. Company, a joint venture between the US Foods International and the Republic of Korea’s Hyundai Department Store.
This is a large-scale farming product processing project in the Mekong Delta region. When completed, it is expected to provide employment for 500 local workers and boost consumption of agricultural products in localities.
