PM urges facilitating implementation of 2016 socio-economic development tasks

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has issued Directive No. 18/CT-TTg on successfully implementing socio-economic development tasks for 2016 and the 2016-2020 five-year plan as set in the Resolution of the 12th National Party Congress.

Accordingly, the PM requested relevant ministries, agencies and localities to be innovative in the organisation of emulation movements towards the theme ‘Solidarity, creativity and emulation for national construction and defence’ launched by the PM at the 9th National Patriotic Emulation Congress.

The government leader also requested improved labour productivity, quality, efficiency and competitiveness, while accelerating economic restructuring associated with growth model innovation and building new incentives to drive the country’s development.

He urged for effective implementation of phase 2 of the ‘Entire country join together to build modern rural areas’ movement and promoting deployment of movements in the field of socio-culture, security, defence, foreign affairs in order to facilitate international integration and ensure peace and social and political stability.

In addition, further promoting information on and replicating advanced models is another focus of the document, set as a key task of emulation and commendation work.

The PM also requested the timely implementation of transparent commending and rewarding work with specific measures via detecting collectives and individuals who have gained outstanding achievements in emulation movements, focusing on small-sized collectives and workers, farmers, and labourers in remote, border and island areas.

The directive clearly stated the immediate tasks of implementing the government resolutions on the major tasks and solutions for socio-economic development plans and the State budget in 2016, focusing on successful organisation of the elections of deputies to the 14th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for 2016-2021, as well as maintaining political security, social order and safety, promoting administrative reform, building a modern, effective and efficient administrative system, removing difficulties for production and business, and enhancing the competitiveness of the economy.

The document also urged the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee and socio-political organisations at central and local levels to mobilise its members to effectively implement emulation movements, contributing to the successful implementation of the national annual socio-economic development plans for 2016 and the 5-year plan for 2016-2020.
