Summarizing the dragon fruit development project
On May 6, the Provincial People’s Committee (PPC) has just hold a conference to summarize the dragon fruit development project in Cho Gao district. Chairman of the PPC Le Van Huong attended the conference.
Being implemented since 2009, until now, this project has had 10 communes participating in growing 2.600 hectares and renovating 590 hectares of dragon fruit. Total area of planting dragon fruit in Cho Gao district has been nearly 4.400 hectares, an increase of 2.5 times in comparision with the pre-implementation project. The average yield of 30 tonnes per hecta with production increased by 2.9 times. With a total capital of 4.4 billion VND, the project has supported variety, 30 percent of buiding cement pillar expenditure for 402 households, etc…

The project management board has coordinated with the agriculture sector to transfer growing dragon fruit technology according to VietGAP standard to farmers, in collaboration with the electricity sector supporting farmers replaced incandescent bulb by compact fluorescent lamp, etc…
Speaking at the conference, Chairman of the PPC Le Van Huong affirmed that dragon fruit is the main cultivated crop to be prioritized development towards efficiency and sustainability. Based on the results obtained from this project, he asked the locals to have synchronization solution in oder to create all favorable conditions for farmers to grow dragon fruit reached the highest profit.
