Provincial leaders works with French Ambassador to Vietnam on coastal erosion
On July 5, Deputy Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee (PPC) Pham Anh Tuan and leaders of provincial departments, agencies as well as leaders of Go Cong Dong district, have just worked with French ambassador to Vietnam Jean-Noël Poirier and the French Agency for Development (AFD) in Hanoi on the issue of coastal erosion areas of province.

At the working session, French ambassador to Vietnam stated the purpose of this mission understanding the status, researching causes and solutions of combating erosion of coastal areas of the province.
According to AFD, the study causes of coastal erosion in the Mekong Delta and Go Cong Dong district of Tien Giang province can be started from February 8, 2016 to May 9, 2017 as expected, if it is favorable,. The conclusions of the study will allow to propose appropriate solutions to protect coastal erison areas and AFD may decide to fund project to prevent erosion, causing damages and plantation protection breakwater protect sea dikes of province in December, 2017, if Viet Nam requested.
Deputy Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee (PPC) Pham Anh Tuan said that, the central authority as well as local authority has been very interested to invest in projects to prevent and combat climate change for protecting the production and livelihoods in Go Cong region in recent years.
However, climate change is increasingly complicated so there are many constructions affected. It is necessary to need the better solution because the existing sea dyke reinforcement is only a temporary solution. Because of the limited resource of the central as well as local level, it is necessary to need the support from the gorvement of France.
