The prices of dragon fruits have drastically fallen

Over two weeks ago, the prices of dragon fruits have drastically fallen to VND3,000-5,000 a kilogram.

Many farmers are worried because the price of dragon fruits in last year was at high prices. Early this month, a kilogram of dragon fruit was sold at VND10,000-50,000.

With the price fall, it is not easy for farmers to sell products and they are suffering heavy losses.

Dragon fruit has been identified as one of seven special fruit which has a competitive advantage and invested continually to improve the quality and position in market.

Tien Giang province has over 4,200 hectares planted dragon  fruit. Apart from the Cho Gao “capital of dragon fruit” with 4,400 hectares, there are some areas planted dragon fruit in Chau Thanh district (50 hectares), Tan Phuoc district (80 hectares), Go Cong region…
