5.320 farmers participated in large-scale field

According to Tien Giang Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, in 2016, the province has about 4,634 hectares of large-scale fields with 5,320 farmers. 

There are three enterprises participated in large-scale field with the purchased area getting 2,944 hectares, reaching 62.3 percent in comparision with contracted area. Total production reached 10,112 tons, the average yield gained from 7 to 7.5 tons per hectare.

When participating large-scale fields, farmers take more advantages in production as well as profit with seed assistance, agricultural materials and transfer of science, especially being underwriten rice by bussinesses.

 

However, Tien Giang Department of Agriculture and Rural Development also cited limited financial resources as the main obstacle for businesses and farmers in building material manufacturing zones and expanding production, and it is still difficult for them to access credit. There is little incentive or support for businesses when investing in large-scale rice production, etc…
