The PPC preliminary wraps up report of socio-economic situation in first nine months of 2016

On October 3,  Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee (PPC) Le Van Huong chaired a conference to review the socio-economic situation in first nine months of 2016 and to implement tasks of last three months. Deputy Chairman of the PPC Le Van Nghia, Deputy Chairman of the PPC Tran Thanh Duc and Deputy Chairman of the PPC Pham Anh Tuan co-chaired the conference.

According to genaral accsessment, the province’s socio-economic situation in first nine months of 2016 of Tien Giang province has continued to get positive changes. Total production in province (GRDP) reached 36,802 billion VND, increase by 7.8 percent. GRDP in the first quarter increased by 7.5 percent, the second quarter was 7.14 percent, the third quarter was 9.5 percent. 

The total of social investment capital increased by 9.9 percent, reached 68.4 percent of the plan, attracting 11 projects with foreign investment as a total registered capital of 6,998 billion VND. The export turnover continued to remain in high growth rate, estimated at USD 1.5 billion, reached 71.5 percent of the plan. The number of tourists hit nearly 1.2 million, reached more than 78 percent of the plan. The total retail sales of merchandise and service revenue in first nine months reached 39, 484 billion VND, increased by 8.4 percent. 
 
Especially, in first nine months of 2016, more than 400 new enterprises were established with a total registered capital of over 2,700 billion VND. Thus, until now, Tien Giang has had 6,177 companies, with a total investment of 54,246 billion VND. The total revenues from the local economy in first nine months hit nearly 5 trillion VND, reached 86.9 percent incomparison with estimate.
 
Addressing the conference, Chairman of the PPC Le Van Huong emphasized that the growth in the remaining months province has to strive for above 10 percent to achieve growth of 8.5 percent in 2016. To achieve this growth, he suggested that industries, localities have specific solutions to focus on promoting growth, while implementing effectively the PPC’s solutions team in oder to strive economic growth as targets set out in 2016 to increase from 8.5 percent to 9 percent.
