The event, the second of its kind, is held to realise a long-running project approved by the Prime Minister for the 2014-2020 period on developing the domestic market and encouraging the Vietnamese people to prioritise Vietnamese goods.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Ho Thi Kim Thoa said that the programme aimed to raise public awareness of the quality of Vietnamese goods and services, thereby helping increase their competitiveness, and to develop strong trademarks for Vietnamese products.

The event also acknowledges efforts made by Vietnamese businesses in improving the quality of their operations in order to win consumer favour and bring their products to the global market.

Under the programme, many supermarkets and trade centres across the country have launched promotional events providing customers with discounted prices on Vietnamese products. Many trade fairs have also been held in rural areas in order to advertise goods made-in-Vietnam to local residents.

As part of the programme, a game show named “Students Identify Vietnamese goods” took place in Ho Chi Minh City the same day, attracting over 3,000 students from universities and colleges in the city.
