Soursop fruit fetches high prices

According to farmers planted soupsop in Tan Phu Dong district, this fruit is rare because farmers is preparing for Lunar Year 2017. Traders buy at garden with 35,000-40,000 VND per a kilogram for type I and 20,000-30,000 VND for type II, an increase of nearly 5,000 VND per a kilogram in comparision with the same period last year.

According to statistics, Tan Phu Dong district has over 800 hectares soursop concentrated on Tan Phu commune, Phu Thanh commune, Tan Thoi commune, Tan Thanh commune, etc…

With an average yield of 16-18 tonnes per hectare and harvesting at the right time, each hectare planted soursop fruit gets about 300 million VND per year, contributing to hunger eradication and poverty for people in Tan Phu Dong island district.
