Minister of Transport works with Tien Giang

On December 17, the delegation of Ministry of Transport, led by member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Transport Truong Quang Nghia, worked with provincial leaders on developing transportation infrastructure structure and ensuring traffic safety order in the province.

Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Van Danh, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Le Van Huong, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Pham Anh Tuan and leaders of departments of the province worked with the delgation.

Tien Giang has more than 7,000 km of roads. In recent years, thanks to the attention of the Government, ministries and central agencies, Tien Giang province has been invested more important transport projects such as Trung Luong-Ho Chi Minh city expressway, My Loi Bridge, the project to upgrade Highway No.1, Highway No.50, Highway No.60, dredging Nguyen Van Tiep canal, upgrading Cho Gao canal (phase 1) and ongoing projects such as Highway No.1 bypass Cai Lay town, preparing to upgrade Cho Gao canal (phase 2), Trung Luong-My Thuan Expressway, ect…

Every year, Ten Giang province always gave priority to sources for investment capital about 600 billion VND to develop the local road system. However, local also met difficult so that investment for bridges and roads have not been synchronized affected shipping and cargo traffic, the progress of construction projects have been slow and prolonged.

After listening the report of the provincial People's Committee, Minister of Transport Truong Quang Nghia said that the Ministry was promoting procedure of Trung Luong-My Thuan expressway project, starting soon Rach Mieu Bridge 2 project, completing the legal procedures of upgrading Cho Gao canal project (phase 2) to start in the quarter 2 of 2017, etc... because these were important works to not only Tien Giang but also the Mekong River delta region.

Ministry also agreed to repairing and upgrading provincial road No.873B to Truong Dinh National hero relic, add on lighting system installation of Cai Lay town evading route by BOT capital BOT. The Minister also suggested that provincial leaders needed to consider regulating traffic inspection to ensure good order and safety traffic according to target of reducing traffic accidents from now until 2020 as devise plan.

Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Le Van Huong  affirmed that the province will continue to focus on directing authorities, forces to clear the ground of key projects, stepping up patrolling, traffic safety and restoring order, punishing resolutely acts of encroachment on road corridors, waterways, giving solutions to traffic congestion on Highway No.1, Highway No.60 and other major routes.
