The conference to develop center regional economic

On February 9, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Standing Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Le Hong Quang chaired the conference of the Provincial Party Committee to develop center regional economic including Chau Thanh district, My Tho City and Cho Gao district.

Report of Tien Giang Department of Planning and Investment showed that the production value of lately 3 years of center region increased 16.1 percent per year, higher than the rate of provincial growth by 13 percent. The proportion of the value of production accounted for a high proportion, more than 56 percent in comparision with the province. The economic structure has shifted positively. The regional construction industry is also the highest growth sector with 20.5 percent per year so the proportion region increased rapidly and accounted for the highest, accounting for over 72 percent in 2016. The service sector accounts for nearly 14 percent and the agriculture, forestry and fisheries production fall by nearly 14 percent.

From this result, Tien Giang considered socio-economic development of the center region a driving force in the overall socio-economic development of the province with a diversified and synchronic economic structure with modern direction, becoming a nuclear to promote the development of areas in the province as well as impact on the surrounding areas outside the province, etc…

 

At the conference, participants suggested many specific measures related to investment activities, administrative reform, infrastructure development, transport, industry, trade and services, tourism, training creation, health care, based on the position of each local to fit the strategic and specific direction.

 

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Standing Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Le Hong Quang confirmed that delegate’s comments and recommendations are an important prerequisite to province’s regulation and building orientation to develop center region better in the future.

 

The project of regional economic development is a right direction. It is considered as the legal basis for development of Tien Giang province's socio-economy until 2020 and orientations to 2030 with a new vision. Until 2020, the entire region will strive to bring the value of production increased an average of 11.5 to 12.5 percent per year accounted 53 percent of the production value of the whole province. The added value average increases 8.6 to 9.5 percent per year, accounting for over 51 percent of the total value added of the province.
