The export turnover of Tien Giang increases by 37 percent
According to Tien Giang Department of Industry and Trade, in first two months of 2017, the export activitiy of the province has many advantages. The export turnover in February of 2017 was estimated at 203 million USD, increasing 40.9 percent over the same period. The accumulation of two months was estimated at 403.5 million USD, increasing 37 percent over the same period, reaching 17.2 percent of the year’s plan.

In particular, the garment group has continued to take the lead. In first two months, it was exported about 11.9 million products worth of 90.6 million USD, increasing 34.8 percent over the same period. Next, the export of all kinds of shoes was estimated at 81.9 million USD, the bags estimated at 63.1 million USD. The export of garments, handbags and footwear were forecasted to continue to increase in 2017. Enterprises were transfering export by processing to export according to orders, contributing to increasing added value of product.
Aquaculture was also an export item of the province with a tendency to increase both in volume and value, with export volume estimated at 29,116 tons worth of 54.9 million USD, increasing 34.4 percent in volume and 35.2 percent in value. The export of Tra fish in February 2017 to major markets such as China, Spain, Russia, Mexico, the U.S.A, etc... all increased. At present, there has had more than 10 enterprises exporting pangasius including 4 large enterprises hold 60 – 70 percent of raw material. Therefore, enterprises still played the role of controlling the source of export material.
The province's rice export situation in first two months of 2017 was also increasing with about 18,000 tons of rice export, valued at 9.1 million USD, increasing 3.6 percent in volume and 6.3 percent of value. Rice export increased as China opened quota on rice import from Vietnam. At the same time, the National Bureau of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of China (AQSIQ) officially agreed to allow a total of 22 Vietnamese enterprises to export rice to China, including two businesses in Tien Giang province exported rice to the market from January 1, 2017.
In addition, in the first two months of 2017, the export of commodities such as copper pipes (estimated at 7,433 tons, worth of 46.9 million USD), plastic products (7.6 million USD), fruits and vegetables (estimated at 1,000 tons, valued at 2.1 millionUSD) were are both increased in quantity and value.
