Growing lotus in the floating water season for good income

Every year, after harvesting rice crop, the water comes back, people of Thanh Hoa commune, Tan Phuoc district began to grow lotus.

This was a good time to grow lotus because the floods with much fertile alluvial sources helped lotus to grow fast and high productivity. With the price from VND11,000 to VND18,000 per kilogram of lotus rootstock and VND17,000 - VND60,000 per kilogram of lotus seed-pod, people can get good income during the floating water season.

* People of Thanh Hoa commune starts to grow lotus after the winter-spring crop and most of them after summer-autumn crop.

* Floating water season is a suitable time to plant lotus due to flood water brings about fertile alluvia to help sen to grow fast and high productivity

* With 6,000 meters of planting lotus in floating water season, Huynh Van Co earns VND7 - 8 million per month from selling lotus rootstock.
