The price of sapote in Chau Thanh district goes up

From early October until now, the price of sapote in Chau Thanh district continuously increased.

According to the gardeners in Chau Thanh district, the best sapote has been purchased by traders from VND20,000 VND to VND25,000 VND per a kilogram. Particularly for the specialized area in Kim Son commune, the gardeners said that the best sapote was purchased from VND28,000 to VND30,000 VND per a kilogram.

At this price, after deducting the cost of each hectare, the gardeners earned over VND300 million VND. As predicted by growers, prices would stay at this level or continue to increase in the coming time because sapote  was currently in unseasonable crop.

Sapote is one of the main specialty fruit trees of Chau Thanh district with the varieties of Mac Bac, Mexico, etc…, which are planted mainly in Kim Son comune, Song Thuan comune, Long Hung comune, Phu Phong comune,... Sapote tree has a long fruit season from December to June in the next calendar year with the yield from 30 to 40 tons per hectare for seven years old-tree.

In 2014, the Intellectual Property Office under the Ministry of Science and Technology issued a proprietary trademark certification for Mac Bac Kim Son, Chau Thanh district, with over 550 hectares. This was a good condition for the consumption of sapote at supermarkets with higher prices.
