Tien Giang province expands the area of planting star apple
From the success of the first batch of star apple to the US market on December 26, 2017, Tien Giang province continued to locate and expanded the production region of raw star apple from 43 hectares to over 70 hectares. Senior Agricultural Attaché Consulate General of the United States in Vietnam Gerald Smith has inspected and granted the code for this raw star apple production area.

In this granting ode for this raw star apple production area, there are 214 households in My Luong commune, Cai Be district; My Long commune, Cai Lay district and Huu Dao commune, Ban Long commune, Phu Phong commune, Long Hungcommune, Chau Thanh district associated with three companies: Cat Tuong Agricultural Products Processing Co., Ltd. Dai Lam Moc company and My Tinh An dragon fruit cooperative to produce hygienically safe star apple to export to the US market, in which 100% fruit are required to be covered and in the process of cultivation without using pesticides with CARBENDAZIM element.
The Department of Plantation and Plant Protection in Tien Giang province has coordinated with the Agriculture and Rural Development Department of Chau Thanh district, Cai Lay district and Cai Be districts to train and guide farmers and drug dealers at the locals about the list of active elemnets contained in pesticides which are warned by the US about without using for export. At the same time, the sector advised farmers on using biopharmaceuticals as well as introducing farmers to fruit covering techniques and measures to isolate pesticides, to avoid cases of fruit contaminated with pesticides.
Up to now, Tien Giang province has exported about 5 tons of star apple to the US market with a purchase price of VND 30,000 per kilogram in the garden, which was 10% higher than the selling price of star apple produded according to the traditional way.
