Tien Giang province focuses on applying science and technology in agricultural production
ABO – According to the Tien Giang provincial People’s Committee, in the first six months, the province has focused on promoting the application of science and technology, linking production - consumption on the main products such as dragon fruit, star apple, vegetables, etc...

In particular, the Tien Giang Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has implemented the project "Development of dragon fruit in Tien Giang province up to 2025". After one year of implementation, the new planting area under the scheme was 1,030 hectares including 750 hectares of Cho Gao district. The province has set up four cooperatives producing and consuming dragon fruits in Trung Hoa, Luong Hoa Lac, Tan Thuan Binh and Tan Binh Thanh communes.
In addition, Tien Giang province has implemented many solutions for Lo Ren star apple restoration and development. The functional sectors has set up the pilot project for restoring star apple in the province; organizing the scientific workshop under the theme "Solutions for Lo Ren star apple restoring and developing”; establishing and issuing a temporary management protocol for root rot disease, diarrhea and to conduct many training courses, propagandizing and guiding farmers to produce and restore the star apple. By implementing a solution to find out the market through negotiation, the United States has allowed the import of star apple products into the US market, fulfilling commitments to serve the needs of the partner for the star apple fruit imported into the US market (most farmers have information about the US).
Besides, Tien Giang province is implementing the project "Building and replicating VietGAP certified vegetable production areas in the localities”. The province also supported My Tho city to change from rice cultivation to fruit and fruit cultivation, through training and advocacy for farmers to change the crop structure on ineffective rice area. According to statistics, from June 2017 to now, My Tho city has converted to other crops of 75 hectares including 37 hectares planted grapefruit, 25 hectares planted coconut, 5 hectares planted dragon fruit, etc…
The province is deploying two projects such as: "A chain links production and consumption of black chicken eggs in the Tien Giang province period 2018-2020" and "A chain links production and consumption of eggs quail in the Tien Giang province period 2018-2020".
