Taking advantage of many sectors support for the consumption of dragon fruit

ABO - Cho Gao district has an area of 5,939.50 hectares of dragon fruit. From the beginning of the year to now, the price of dragon fruit was high so the farmers were quite profitable. In the season, prices of white flesh dragon fruit ranged from VND 8,000 to 15,000/kg, and the red flesh dragon fruit ranged from VND 15,000 VND to 25,000/kg.

In order to create favorable conditions for local farmers to consume dragon fruit, especially the dragon fruit produced in accordance with Viet GAP standards, the Tien Giang province Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has employed a consultant to develop a dragon fruit value chain.

At the Cho Gao district, in the beginning of August, the Tien Giang province Department of Agriculture and Rural Development coordinated with the Department of Agro-Forestry-Fisheries Quality Assurance, the Cat Tuong agricultural products processing company, cooperatives and cooperative groups of dragon fruit to exchange the cooperative mode, promoting dragon fruit consumption according to Viet GAP standards.

From the beginning of the year, Cho Gao district has conducted a propaganda and training to mobilize farmers to register for dragon fruit production under Viet GAP standards. Until now, the district has had 11 teams to register for provincial support under the Decision No. 04/QD-UBND by the Tien Giang provincial People's Committee, with the total area of 197.04 hectares of 374 households in Tan Thuan Binh commune, My Tinh An commune and Tan Binh Thanh commune.
