To bring into full play this economic potential according to the direction of sustainability not only helps people to overcome difficulties, raising their living standards, but also ensure security and order as well as maintain national security in the locality.

Tien Giang province planned and strengthened infrastructure for aquaculture in brackish shrimp farming areas of the north of Go Cong, the south of Go Cong and Con Cong islet, etc...; enlarging the oyster farming areas in Tan Thanh coastal, Ong Lieu islet, Ong Mao islet (Go Cong Dong district), Con Ngang islet (Tan Phu Dong district).

At the same time, the agriculture and rural development sector strengthened the fisheries promotion and transferred science and technology as many advanced farming methods for farmers. Thanks to this, coastal farmers could master the farming techniques, ensuring the production of bumper crops, limiting disease and risk in farming.

The Tien Giang Encourage Agricultural Expansion Center played an important role in the transfer of technology, improving the production and intensification levels, and popularizing successfully the knowledge of brackish and water aquaculture for coastal farmers.

The area of aquaculture in the province has now reached over 15,800 hectares including the area of brackish water aquaculture reached nearly 9,750 hectares concentrated in Go Cong Dong district, Go Cong Tay district, Go Cong town and Tan Phu Dong district. The water surface for brackish and marine aquaculture has increased 2.7 times in comparison with 2008. The output from aquaculture in the province reached nearly 156,000 tons to meet consumer demand and export processing. The production of brackish and brackish water was over 43,000 tons, including raw shrimp of over 23,000 tons and commodity oyster of nearly 20,000 tons.
