20 communes of Tien Giang province recognized as new rural standards in 2018

ABO - The Tien Giang province People's Committee (PPC) organized a review of the national target program on new rural construction in 2018 and implemented the direction of the task in 2019, on December 21. According to the Provincial Steering Committee for the implementation of national target programs on new rural construction, the province's new rural construction work in 2018 has seen more positive changes than in 2017. Specifically, there were 20 more communes meeting the standards, increasing the number of communes meeting the new rural standards in the whole province is 60 communes, becoming the locality with the number of new rural communes in the year in the Mekong Delta.

Besides, the consolidation and upgrading of 19 criteria according to the new regulations were also focused on implementation by localities, with 16/24 communes being focused on implementation. This result exceeded the target set by the Provincial People's Council Resolution No. 15 on socio-economic development in 2018.

Deputy Chairman of the PPC suggested that: Districts must have the plan and methods to complete the dossier and building remaining commune that have not been recognizes as new rural commune with the enhancement of quality. Each district and town reevaluates and adjusts the implementation of the targets in each year. Related departments have plans to coordinate and review the appraisal process; pay attention to building a new model rural commune, especially to two new rural districts of Cho Gao and Go Cong Dong from now to 2020.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Le Van Huong - Chairman of Tien Giang Provincial People's Committee praised the achievements, and emphasized the localities need to focus more on improving the quality of new rural construction, implementing goals set out.
