More than 80 billion VND invested to deal with landslides and natural disasters
ABO - According to the People's Committee of Tien Giang province, in 2018, the province implemented dredging, maintaining and repairing 612 irrigation works with a length of 609,781 meters, a volume of 2,009,872 m3; funding support for localities to handle 69/93 landslide points (river banks, canals and rivers) with an expense of 80.2 billion VND.

The agriculture sector reinforced and upgraded 73 dyke roads with a length of 147,841 meters with a budget of 26.4 billion VND; completing 133 dams and repairing and reinforcing 119 culverts to prevent flood and high tide.
To proactively respond to floods in 2018, the Provincial People's Committee directed the districts and towns in the western region of the province to concentrate on implementing measures to prevent, combat and respond to floods; reinforcing and enhancing dike sections, low embankments and weak banks to protect the area of rice, vegetables and fruit trees.
From the beginning of the year until now, the province has occurred 8 tornadoes in Cai Be district, Cai Lay district and Tan Phu Dong district, which damaged 270 houses with 3,079 trees, estimated total damage of about 8.9 billion VND.
