Cai Lay BOT station to re-open in June and to reduce a toll fee

According to information at the press conference, the representative of the Ministry of Transport said the research process, proposed the plan to handle the Ministry has reviewed and re-calculated the entire project investment costs, updating the conclusions of the Inspectorate, Audit.

After obtaining local opinions to complete, Ministry of Transport reports to the Prime Minister five remedial options. On December 20, 2016, in the Official Dispatch 100/TTg-CN, Prime Minister agreed to deploy the plan to keep the Cai Lay BOT toll station as now and reduce the fare. The Prime Minister requested a new plan to ensure the objective of exempting and reducing toll fee for people near the tollbooth; organizing traffic flow to meet the requirements of anti-congestion and environmental pollution in Cai Lay town, ensuring the harmony of the common interests of the people, the State and investors.

 

At the press conference, Deputy Minister of Transport Nguyen Nhat said: “Basing on the unification of local authorities and investors, Ministry of Transport has issued a written approval to expand the discounted service area for vehicles near the station following the guiding spirit of the Prime Minister. So far, there are eight communes, wards exempted and reduced; expected to propose exemption and reduction of ten more communes, wards and towns in the near future”.

It is known that the plan proposed by MOT has new fare levels. Specifically, group of vehicles of type 1 (vehicles with less than 12 seats, trucks with loading capacity of less than 2 tons, buses) reduce the fee to VND 15,000/turn, reducing 57% compared to the previous level of 35,000 VND/turn. The monthly, quarterly and quarterly fee rates applicable to other groups of vehicles also decreased by 40-60% compared to the previous period and expanded the scope of exemption and discount of neighborhoods up to 10 km.

After adjusting the financial plan, the project's charging time is about 15 years and 9 months, while the previous collection plan was just over 6 years. With the new plan, Cai Lay BOT toll collection station will also deploy non-stop and one-stop automatic receiver technology. Traffic organization will divert the means of trucks and passenger cars into Cai Lay town.
