Tien Giang province implements a pilot project to restore Lo Ren star apple

ABO - On February 21, at Vinh Kim commune, Chau Thanh district, the Tien Giang Department of Agriculture and Rural Development in Tien Giang province organized a pilot project to restore Lo Ren star apple, one of famous specialty fruits of the province, exported to many countries around the world, including the United States.

The goal of the project is to plant 13 hectares of Lo Ren star apple, applying the same technical solutions to better manage the root rot disease, renovating and restoring the infected star apple with dry branches with an area of 2 hectares, ensuring productivity of 20 - 24 tons/hectare.

Besides, the goal of the project is to establish a concentrated star apple production area with GlobalGAP certification, covering an area of 15 hectares, establishing a new cooperative to link with businesses.
The project continues to invest in dredging the main canals, constructing the head canal, building an electric pumping station, digging new canals and building rural roads to serve the demand of product transportation.

A total investment of the project is more than 30 billion VND, of which investment budget capital accounts for 53%, the rest is people's capital contributed.
