Developing a strategy for sustainable development of sea economy
ABO - Implementing Resolution of 8th plenum of 12th session Central Committee, Tien Giang province is setting forth many specific targets and solutions for sustainable development of sea economy by 2030 and vision to 2045.

Tien Giang province is interested in developing marine economy based on green growth, biodiversity conservation; ensuring harmony between conservation and development, between the benefits of the sea and without the sea; strengthening linkages and restructuring of industries and sectors in the direction of increasing productivity, quality, efficiency and competitiveness, promoting the potentials and advantages of the sea to create a driving force for economic development.
The focus is on restructuring the marine economy; developing science and technology, developing marine human resources; environmental protection, coping with climate change and sea level rise.
For the sea economy, by 2030, Tien Giang will reduce up to 30% of the number of coastal fishing vessels; 10% of fleets exploiting offshore have closed steel or new materials; and at the same time attracting up to 60% of offshore fishing vehicles into new and advanced models of production and exploitation of seafood, etc... Besides, the province also focuses on developing brackish water aquaculture for public application high technology, biosecurity and environmental friendliness, proceeding to form and develop aquaculture zones with high and sustainable technology applications.
In addition to exploitation and aquaculture, the province is interested in developing marine economic services such as tourism and marine services, coastal industry, perfecting commercial infrastructure, etc... gradually forming economic zones, industrial zones, coastal ecological urban areas.
In order to synchronously develop sea economy, sustainably and effectively, Tien Giang province has built a sea strategy based on the advantages of natural conditions, ensuring comedy harmony between conservation and development.
On the other hand, the work of environmental protection, conservation and sustainable development of marine biodiversity, proactively respond to climate change, sea level rise and natural disaster prevention is also very interested by the province.
In addition, the province has positively deployed many solutions to improve people's life through the development of offshore fishing fleets, service expansion, sea tourism, production conversion to adapt to climate change and sea level rise to build an advanced marine culture imbued with national identity and ensuring national defense and security in the area.
