ABO - On June 16, Vice Chairman of the Tien Giang provincial People's Committee (PPC) Le Van Nghia and related units inspected the prevention and control of the African swine fever  in Go Cong Dong district.

Go Cong Dong district currently has a total of over 27,000 pigs, concentrating in Tan Thanh, Tang Hoa and Phuoc Trung communes with over 15,000 pigs. The total number of households and establishments raising pigs in the district is nearly 930, of which mainly small and medium livestock households.

Implementing the prevention and control of the African cholera fever epidemic, Go Cong Dong district has established interdisciplinary teams and mobile examination teams to examine and control the transport, circulation, trade of pigs and products from pigs in the district. Besides, the district has conducted training, propaganda to raise awareness and measures to prevent and control African swine fever epidemic; chemical supporting for 13 communes and towns in the area, spraying and disinfection in livestock households, slaughterhouses in the district.

Up to now, according to the record in Go Cong Dong district, there have not been any cases of suspected signs African swine fever.

Through actual inspection, Vice Chairman of the PPC Le Van Nghia highly appreciated the initiative of Go Cong Dong district in the prevention and control of the African swine fever. At the same time, he also asked Go Cong Dong district to continue checking and controlling the slaughtering, consumption, detection and strictly handling violations. Besides, it is necessary to allocate reserve fund for epidemic prevention and control and regularly report to provincial leaders for timely guidance.
