According to the Department of Fisheries under the Tien Giang Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, until July 4, 2019, Tien Giang province had 74/134 fishing vessels with length of 24 meters or more to be installed of S-Tracking monitoring device.
Implementing the direction in Official Letter No. 1881 / UBND-KTTC on May 9, 2019 of Tien Giang provincial People's Committee on continuing to implement urgent measures to combat the exploitation of IUU and strengthen the implementation of the Fisheries Law in the province, the Tien Giang Department of Agriculture and Rural Development in collaboration with the Provincial Border Guards Command strengthened the propaganda, inspection and control of fishing vessels leaving berths; in which, resolutely do not allow fishing vessels to leave the port without installing cruise monitoring equipment according to the prescribed time. At the same time, the province urgently completes the installation of fishing vessel cruise monitoring according to the provisions of the Decree.26 of the Government.
The installation of cruise monitoring equipment not only facilitates fisheries management, the inspection and traceability of seafood origin exploited by fishermen at sea but also plays an important role in preventing to prevent illegal exploitation of marine products, maintaining maritime security and protecting the country's sovereignty over sea and islands.
