Developing fruit trees in Dong Thap Muoi area

In particular, the area of dragon fruit is increasing rapidly and reached nearly 1,000 hectares, mainly red flesh dragon fruit, concentrated in some communes such as Tan Lap 1 commune, Thanh Tan commune, etc,... From the beginning of the year until now, farmers in the locality has harvested nearly 300 hectares with an output of about 6,500 tons. The price of red flesh dragon fruit on the market currently ranges from 15,000 to 20,000 VND/kg. Lemon is also a new crop in Tan Phuoc district with an area of over 160 hectares, of which more than 120 hectares are being harvested. From the beginning of the year until now, the district has achieved lemon production of over 1,000 tons.
In addition, Thai super jackfruit planting movement also was planted in Tan Phuoc district with an area of nearly 500 hectares. Jackfruit is an easy-to-plant tree so it is well adapted to the conditions of Tan Phuoc land and high yield. The selling prices is high so many local farmers are actively reclaiming and improving land to grow jackfruit.
According to preliminary assessment, fruit trees planting development in Tan Phuoc district shows that farmers are promoting the potential of land and labor, diversifying crops to stabilize production and life on the new land. Many farmer households became millionaires in Dong Thap Muoi area after a few bumper crops of fruit trees.
