The Tien Giang Farmers' Association supports farmers in many effectively models

ABO - In recent years, the levels of Tien Giang Farmers' Association have constantly innovated and improved the effectiveness of consultancy, service support and vocational training activities for farmers to develop production and business, supporting farmers to develop their economy and improve their lives.

Accordingly, the Tien Giang Farmers' Association levels have actively implemented the Scheme on "Renovating and improving the operational efficiency of the Farmers Support Fund". Up to now, the total fund of the Farmers' Support Fund of the province reaches over 65 billion VND. In which, the entrusted central capital is implementing 24 projects for 577 households borrowing over 14.7 billion VND; the provincial capital is currently implementing 34 projects for 817 households borrowing over 15 billion VND; the capital managed by districts and communes is currently implementing 8,324 households with the amount of over 29.9 billion VND.

Loans are invested by officials and members of farmers for gardening and tending projects with crops such as: pomelo, mango, durian, Siamese custard apple, lemon, etc... accounted for 31.03%; the remaining projects are mainly breeding cows, goats and pigs, accounting for 68.97% of projects implemented in the province. The capital support to implement projects has created confidence for officials and farmers' members in economic development, increasing family income.

Vice Chairwoman of the Tien Giang Farmers' Association Nguyen Thi Phuong said: “Every month, the Project Management Boards maintains their daily activities so that the borrowers can exchange and study experience in production to find the output for products, etc... Associations at all levels take economic benefits as a driving force and follow the motto "Mobilizing match farmers' support" to gather farmers into the Association; improving the quality of activities and associations, contributing to building a stronger organization of the Association ”.

The Tien Giang Farmers' Association also cooperates with the provincial Bank for Social Policies to implement inter-agency documents between the Vietnam Farmers Association and the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies on entrusting loans to poor households and policy objectives as member of the farmer.
Up to now, total outstanding loans of policy credit programs are over 1,000 billion VND with over 52,000 members participated. Besides, based on the interdisciplinary agreement between Vietnam Farmers Association and Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development, the whole province has 10/11 units of the district Farmers' Association signed an interdisciplinary agreement with Bank for Agricultural and Rural Development goods at the same level.

By the end of 2018, the total outstanding loans of credit programs were over 2,084 billion VND with 43,569 households borrowing loans. Recently, the Tien Giang Farmers' Union has disbursed to 20 households with the amount of 500 million VND so that farmers can take care of durian trees; at the same time, disbursing 500 million VND from the capital to support the project of growing citronella for 50 households as farmers in Phu Thanh commune (Tan Phu Dong district), with a support level of 10 million VND/household, etc...

Along with facilitating capital, the Tien Gaing Farmers' Association also cooperated with the Tien Giang Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, vocational schools and centers and supported farmers to organize vocational training in association with job settlement, contributing to rural labor restructuring.

In the past year, the whole province organized training courses and seminars with nearly 2,000 turns for over 58,000 farmers, of which 5,877 poor households as farmers. Thereby, farmers are instructed to take care of and prevent and treat pests and diseases on crops, livestock and aquatic products in a safe way, produced according to VietGAP standards, etc...
