Tan Phu Dong citronella collective brand certificate announced

ABO - On August 29, the Tien Giang provincial People's Committee organized a ceremony to announce and hand over the collective brand certificate to Tan Phu Dong citronella, which issued by the National Office of Intellectual Property (Ministry of Science and Technology).

The unit chosen to own and manage the collective trademark "Tan Phu Dong citronella" is Tan Phu Dong district Gardening Association.

According to Deputy Director of the Tien Giang Department of Science and Technology Tran Huu Tuoc, this is an important step to affirm the brand, improving the competitiveness of the main product of the province in general and citronella in Tan Phu Dong district in particular.

Tien Giang province has built a specialized cultivation area of citronella over 1,350hectares, concentrated in the district of salty island of Tan Phu Dong district.

With an average yield of 15 tons-17 tons/hectar, each year, Tan Phu Dong province reaches an output of over 22,000 tons of commercial citronella. This is a spice plant as well as a precious medicinal plant with many utility applications from stems, leaves and tubers in daily food needs as well as preparation of pharmaceuticals to treat diseases for people.
