Aquaculture production and exploitation reach more than 239.6 thousand tons

ABO - According to the Tien Giang provincial People’s Committee, the total output of aquaculture production and exploitation reach more than 239.6 thousand tons in nine months, up 8.9% over the same period; of which, the exploitation output reached 92.4 thousand tons, up 18.3% over the same period.

The province has directed to remedy the contents of the opinion of the delegation of loiMinistry of Agriculture and Rural Development on the situation of deploying against illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing (IUU), including the formulation of a scheme to transform bottom-fishing and fishing trades and fishing gear banned from coastal and inland waters.

Up to now, 135 ships have installed cruise monitoring equipment; organizing and guiding as well as supporting localities in implementing the Fisheries Law and regulations on sanctioning of administrative violations in the field of fisheries, focusing on a number of contents related to IUU fishing.

So far, the aquaculture area of the province has over 15.2 thousand hectares, gaining 95.4% of the plan, up 0.2% over the same period; in which saltwater and brackish is 9,882 hectares (accounting for 65% of the farming area), up 3.8% over the same period; freshwater is 5,351 ha, down 5.9% over the same period.
