Many districts grown specialized vegetable are Chau Thanh district, water melon in Tan Phuoc district and lemongrass areas in Tan Phu Dong district.

In Chau Thanh district, local authorities are working with Sai Gon Farm, a clean vegetable growing company in Ho Chi Minh city, to plant clean vegetables on a 20 hectare area. The area will increase to 100 hectares beginning in 2020. Sai Gon Farm provides farmers with advanced techniques for growing vegetables, harvesting vegetables, and initial processing.

Tan Phu Dong district has more than 1,350ha of lemongrass, with an average annual yield of 15 – 17 tons per hectare. The district supplies more than 22,000 tons of lemongrass for herbal and medicinal use a year. The National Office of Intellectual Property awarded the “Tan Phu Dong Lemongrass” collective brand name to the district, on last month.

According to the Tien Giang Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the average profit of these areas is 170 - 200 million VND per hectare a year, three to four times higher than the profit from high-yield rice.

The province’s vegetable co-operatives and co-operative groups have expanded clean vegetable cultivation to supply produce to supermarkets and collective kitchens in and outside the province.
