Tan Phong commune recognized as new rural area

ABO - The Tien Giang provincial Standing Steering Committee for National Targeted Program proclaimed Tan Phong commune of Cai Lay district as new rural commune, on December 18.

Thanks to the participation and concentration of the entire political system, with the support and unanimity of the people, up to now, Tan Phong commune has reached 19/19 criteria of new rural area.

Currently, Tan Phong commune has 6/9 hamlet roads which are hardened, ensuring cars to travel all year round; nearly 98% of alleys meet standards, ensuring no muddy in the rainy season.

The commune has also built a communal culture house with a capacity of 250 seats and cultural houses of hamlets or inter-hamlets; at the same time, the commune also has entertainment and sports place for children and the elderly.

Currently, the whole commune has 89.6 percent of people participating in health insurance and over 73 percent of houses meet the standards of the Ministry of Construction. The average income per capita gets over 50 million VND/year. The rate poverty is 2.69 percent, etc…

Comrade Le Van Nghia suggested that the local must have specific plans and solutions to perfect and improve the quality of the achieved criteria. At the same time, restructuring the agriculture sector, promoting local advantages, gradually converting people's minds from agricultural production to agricultural economy, etc…

On this occasion, the Tien Giang provincial People's Committee awarded the emulation flag and welfare project worth 1 billion VND to Tan Phong commune.
