Discussing solutions to combat drought and salt

According to the Tien Giang Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the situation of salinity changes in the province in the past few days was very complicated. The salinity on Tien river has suddenly increased, penetrating into the fields fast.

At the meeting, the Agriculture sector presented a plan to prevent and combat drought and salinity in the dry season 2019-2020 in the province. In particular, the Agriculture sector forecasts on water resources and saline intrusion situation in the dry season 2019-2020; prevention and fighting plan for Go Cong sweetening project area, Bao Dinh project area, flood control area in western districts and town, etc...

Concluding at the meeting, comrade Le Van Huong requested: Combating drought and salt with strong spirit; minimizing damages to the lowest level. The specialized branches build specific jobs, tasks for each person, each attached unit. Department of Agriculture and Rural Development cooperates with relevant departments and agencies in surveying and immediately handling recommendations of each locality for drought and salt fighting; working with Long An province on the plan of building saline prevention dams in Long An province to protect rice and fruit trees in the fields of the two provinces.

Regarding domestic water for people in the near future, he encouraged people to buy a fresh water storage tank or to distribute water for people to store water for their daily life. In addition, the province will immediately drill large wells to serve people when there is an urgent need, protecting water security in the Sau Au - Xoai Kinh economic system.

Comrade Le Van Huong also noted: Farmers in the Eastern districts and town sow rice seeds after December 15, 2019, if there is damage, the province will not support.
