Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development checks the drought and salinity in Tien Giang

According to Tien Giang People's Committee, in order to combat drought and salt in the dry season 2019-2020, Tien Giang province focused on dredging works, constructing dams to keep fresh water to prevent salinity; installation of mobile pumps at sluice gates capable of taking water into the project areas, etc...
In addition, Tien Giang province also proposed MARD to support the province to build dams on the Nguyen Tan Thanh canal to provide fresh water to thousands of households, hundreds of thousands of hectares of fruit trees,etc ...
The delegation visited the proposed location for Tan Dam dam, Xuan Hoa dam and checked the situation of water use and production of people in Tan Thoi commune, Tan Phu Dong district.
Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Hoang Hiep highly appreciated the solutions to drought and salinity coping in Tien Giang province. In particular, some solutions such as using mobile pumps to pump water into the project areas; proactively closing a series of sluices and saline dams; many solutions to provide clean water for people, etc... Particularly, the use of mobile pumps will be studied and expanded by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to provinces and cities affected by drought and salinity.
