Checking the work of preventing drought and saltwater intrusion in eastern districts

ABO - Implementing urgent measures to combat drought and saltwater intrusion, Chairman of Tien Giang People's Committee Le Van Huong and leaders of Department of Agriculture and Rural Development checked the water storage pump and surveyed the situation of winter-spring rice crop in the eastern districts.

In Go Cong Dong district, the delegation directly surveyed rice areas of people in disadvantaged areas. Despite the drought and saltwater intrusion, people have actively pumped water storage, basically ensuring the rice area has enough water sources, showing that the situation of the winter-spring rice crop this year in the rural difficult area of Tan Phuoc commune, Go Cong Dong district has changed well.

The delegation also came to Binh Thanh bridge in Binh Xuan commune of Go Cong town to survey the location of installing a water pump from the Rach Ve river, pumping to Rach Dun canal route, hamlet 1, Binh Xuan commune, Go Cong town; then, pumping to the N8 of Go Cong Tay district to produce rice and vegetables for people in Binh Xuan commune, Go Cong town and Go Cong Tay district.

Chairman of Tien Giang People's Committee Le Van Huong directed localities to focus on propagating and mobilizing people to raise their awareness of drought and saltwater prevention and control with the motto of using water sparingly, without pumping water into the field when rice is not needed. In addition, localities need to have a plan to actively regulate the amount of water from rice areas that can reduce water to areas where rice is in need of water.
