Tien Giang: Supplying Dong Tam BOO water plant with fresh water by barges

ABO - On March 27, Chairman of Tien Giang People's Committee (PPC) Le Van Huong and Vice Chairman of the PPC Pham Anh Tuan surveyed the transport of fresh water to Dong Tam BOO water plant to serve the production of water for people’s living in the eastern districts and towns of the province.

According to Department of Irrigation under Tien Giang Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, in recent days, the salinity of the water source on Sau Au - Xoai Hot Canal has increased which affected the intake of Dong Tam BOO water plant.

Faccing with the above situation, from March 25 until now, Tien Giang province has implemented a plan to transport fresh water by barge from My Thuan bridge area to Dong Tam BOO water plant, merging with water sources taken from the Sau Au canal- Xoai Hot and the drilled wells to produce water for people’s living in the eastern districts and towns of the province.

Currently, there are about 17,000m³ of fresh water transported by barge to Dong Tam BOO water plant. Although the situation of drought and saltwater is very severe, up to now, the source of water for people’s living in the districts and the eastern town has been guaranteed thanks to the initiative and determination of the PPC and the functional branches. Currently, the daily average of Dong Tam BOO water plant is supplying about 60,000m³ of water to people in the eastern districts and towns of the province.
