According to the notice of Chinese authorities, Vietnamese fresh chili products exported to China must meet the country's phytosanitary requirements. All shipments of fresh chili must be quarantined by Vietnamese functional agencies or authorised establishments, with relevant technical parameters, clearly noted in the phytosanitary certificate.
Commercial Counsellor of the Vietnamese Embassy in China, Nong Duc Lai, said that these are the first five Vietnamese enterprises licensed to export again to China, after a period of temporary hiatus. The demand of a country with 1.4 billion people for agricultural products and food is very large, so Vietnamese businesses need to carefully study to meet the increasing requirements of the Chinese market, thus promoting export through official channels, ensuring stable consumption for Vietnamese agricultural industry.
Counsellor Nong Duc Lai also said that as of March 4, 2022, a total of 1,808 codes of agricultural and food products were granted by Chinese authorities to Vietnamese enterprises, for official export to China.
In the context of China’s tightening quarantine activities for the import and export of goods, especially at border gates to prevent the COVID-19 pandemic, the grant of official export codes, is considered an inevitable direction to utilise the Chinese consumption market.
