The domestic aviation industry makes a strong breakthrough
ABO/NDO- The number of domestic flight passengers recorded a strong recovery and breakthrough following the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV).
During the peak of the summer of 2022, the number of passengers increased markedly compared to 2019 , such as 40% in June, 42% in July and 40% in August.
Many airports have exceeded the announced capacity at domestic passenger terminals including Con Dao, Cat Bi, Phu Quoc, Lien Khuong and Cam Ranh.
During the 2010-2019 period, with a growth rate of more than 15% per year, Vietnam's aviation market was assessed to be the 5th fastest growing in the world and the fastest in Southeast Asia.

However, in 2020 and 2021, the COVID-19 pandemic pushed back the development of the aviation industry around the world, causing negative consequences for the units in the air transport chain, especially the airlines.
Due to the closure of the international market, domestic airlines almost completely stopped international operations, while the domestic market also declined seriously.
In the past two years, Vietnam's aviation market saw a sharp decrease of 42.1% and 80% respectively compared to 2019.
However, since the beginning of 2022, the operation of Vietnam's aviation has recovered and started to grow, especially in domestic passenger volume. Specifically, the number of passengers was estimated at nearly 66 million, including nearly 61 million domestic ones.
The ACV requires airports to shortly coordinate in operations and ensure the safety of flight operations and service quality.
